The
Dallas and Tarrant County Extension Offices have coordinated nutrition
and health programming in the metroplex, and the result is the Wellness
in the City program. The goal of the Wellness in the City campaign
is to encourage metroplex residents to make healthy lifestyle choices
that will improve their quality of life. Be sure to check this website

Walk
Across Texas
Walk
Across Texas is a free program from Texas Cooperative Extension.
It is an eight week walking program for teams of eight people, and
the goal is to motivate people to increase their levels of physical
activity. The program is conducted in Dallas and Tarrant Counties
during September and October. more>>

These
classes focus on quick and easy recipes that will fit into a healthy
eating plan.

Do
Well, Be Well With Diabetes
Do
Well, Be Well with Diabetes is an educational program for people
with Type 2 diabetes. The Primary goal is to help participants learn
how to manage their meal plan and self-care to maintain their blood
glucose in the ranges recommended by the American Diabetes Association.

Wellness
In The City Master Volunteers
A
special Wellness in the City volunteer program was implemented in
Dallas County in March. Twelve volunteers received 30 hours of research-based
education in nutrition and health. In return, these volunteers are
currently giving back 30 hours of volunteer service to the Wellness
in the City program. They assist in planning and implementing educational
programs and services that teach Dallas County residents about healthy
lifestyle choices. more>>
